MODERNISATION OF A BLOCK OF FLATS

SPLIT SOLUTION WITH POWER INVERTER

ECODAN AIR-TO-WATER HEAT PUMP IN RENOVATED BUILDINGS

Built in 1911, the house was thoroughly renovated in 2004. The flat on the upper level is 120 m2 and is heated with classic plate convectors. The highly efficient heat generation is achieved in bivalent mode using an outdoor unit with power inverter technology. It covers a range of -20 °C to 35 °C and supplies a flow temperature of 55 °C.

BUFFER TANK

IN THE CELLAR

A hydrobox in the cellar was used to connect the outdoor unit to an existing tank for heating domestic hot water and to a heater buffer tank. The hydrobox has a weather-dependent controller and priority switching for domestic hot water.

25% LOWER

COSTS

Inside the hydrobox there is a high-efficiency circulating pump, energy efficiency class A, to meet future requirements specified by the German Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA). The cost determination feature of the outdoor unit is especially practical. Since the two flats in the building are almost exactly the same size and need about the same amount of heating, a direct comparison was able to demonstrate that the new Ecodan system is around 25% cheaper to operate than a conventional central gas heater.
